Acute glaucoma

Clinical findings

@The acute loss of vision, eye pain, headache, nausea and vomiting are the most characteristic manifestations of this serious condition. This disease usually affects middle aged women, especially when they experience severe emotional stress. Because of the clinical manifestations, the patient and doctor often assume it's a bowel or brain disease or disfunction, which makes it too late to consult an eye surgeon in some cases. This type of glaucoma usually affects the Asians, Afro-Americans and Eskimos. In the Caucassians, acute glaucoma is relatively rare compared with the above races.

Therapy

The best way to cure the disease is surgery. If the condition is not so serious, laser therapy will be used and in severe cases more detailed surgery may be required.
